1.0       Name of the Programme

The title of the proposed programme is Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) Information Technology.

2.0       Entry Requirements

 

  1. Have at least credit level passes in five (5) subjects at the Senior Secondary Certificate or its equivalent NECO, GCE ‘O’ level, NABTEB or TC II ‘O’ level examinations. The credit level passes must include English language, Mathematics and Physics to form the core subjects and any other two (2) credit level passes from Chemistry, Biology/Agric, Further Mathematics and Computer Studies taken from a maximum of two (2) sittings.

 

  1. A minimum of a third class of first degree from a recognised university in any Computing-related fields/other Science and Engineering-related fields as stated below in addition to (i) above.

Other Science and Technology-related fields:

3.0       Aims and Objectives

3.1       Aims

The PGD programme in Information Technology is one of the few NOUN’s most attractive postgraduates programmes, aimed at meeting the Information Technology needs of our high level management personnel in the private and public sectors.  The programme equally aims at preparing interested candidates towards pursuing academic programme in Information Technology.

 

  • Objectives of the Programme

By the end of the PGD Information Technology programme, students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate basic skills in various computer applications and working within various platform
  • Use and set up various latest multimedia computing and communication devices.
  • Demonstrate competent skills in exploring various tools on the internet.

 

4.0       Programme Structure and PGD Rules

Duration of the Programme

Students pursuing PGD programme in Information Technology must complete at least 35 credits to satisfy the University’s regulations.

 

17 Credits from table 1 (first semester course)

18 Credits from table 2 (second semester courses)

 

The core courses listed in Table 1 are designed to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of Information Technology.

 

The courses listed in Table 2 allow students to broaden their knowledge and skills, hence assisting them to operate more effectively.
