Message from the HOD

Businesses and Users in near and global communities communicate through the link established by Computer Systems and Networks. Computer Networks are involved in every aspect of modern life as a result of an emerging digital revolution. This revolution significantly increases the number of mobile users, data networks, and applicable digital applications. As the number of these digital stakeholders increases, so does the number of potential threats and risks surrounding their usage in meeting the organizational corporate goals. This results in the global need for training of specialized professionals and ethical cyber security experts to effectively plan, design, manage, and practice cyber security mechanisms and technologies to secure and protect computer systems, networks, and underlying data.

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Cybersecurity of the National Open University of Nigeria is designed to provide valuable and sufficient knowledge and skills to prevent and protect prevalent cybersecurity threats and incidences in corporate and national ecosystems. Through a rigorous curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with Hands-on training, students are equipped with demonstrable abilities to gather, analyse, and present evidence of any cybersecurity breach in managing corporate and National security infrastructure. Using the Open and Distance Learning metaphor, graduates will understand the impact of cybercrime on businesses and the public, and identify and implement specific security practices, features, and techniques to enhance the security of computer networks, computer-based systems, and cyberspace.
