Staff Profile

Akamiokhor Alfred Asekhame is a Lecturer in the Department of Cybersecurity, Faculty of Computing, at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). He holds a Master of Science degree in Information Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. Before transitioning into academic life, he spent over a decade working as a Systems Analyst—experience that continues to shape how he thinks about bridging theory and practice.
Though relatively new to teaching, he brings a genuine enthusiasm for the work and a commitment to growing alongside his students. His hope is to create learning experiences that equip graduates not just with technical skills, but with the critical awareness to understand the broader implications of the systems they build and secure.
His published work spans artificial intelligence, healthcare systems optimization, energy systems, and the ethical implications of AI deployment in public institutions. His broader research interests extend to AI healthcare security and Humanist Superintelligence—an exploration of how advanced AI systems might be developed in ways that uphold human dignity, agency, and shared responsibility. Informed by Ubuntu philosophy and contemporary AI ethics, his work examines how technological progress can remain accountable to human values across diverse cultural and institutional contexts.
He is currently pursuing doctoral studies and views this scholarly journey as ongoing and collaborative. He welcomes opportunities to engage with researchers and practitioners working to shape the future of ethical and secure intelligent systems.
