Career Profile

My professional journey has been a fulfilling blend of academia and industry, backed by a passion for information technology and its revolutionary potential.

I obtained a B.Sc. in Information and Communication Science, from the University of Ilorin where I researched the evaluation of computerised sales systems in retail outlets and later an M.Sc Information Science, University of Ibadan. My thesis focused on the importance of social media among unemployed youths and shows early themes of technology and society.

Professionally, my first job was as a Database Administrator at Lara Bookstores for which I honed up my skills in database security and optimization.

From this foundation, I was able to attain salaried work such as a Digital Manager at Disrupt Design Communication, where I was responsible for managing digital marketing campaigns, and also a freelance photographer and Technical Support Staff at Cactus Technologies, where I provided practical, hands-on IT services.

Now, as an assistant lecturer at National Open University of Nigeria, I create, teach and assess IT-focused subjects, supervise undergraduate research projects, and work on curriculum design.

Over this period, I have embraced social informatics as one of my research areas and the more recent topic on digital marketing breakthroughs.

I have also looked for training in professional development and got my certificates in digital marketing and design thinking.

I am fully committed to raise the IT awareness through teaching, research and application and also to make sure my work falls in place with the necessities of the new world.

B.Sc. Information and Communication Science, M.Sc. Information Science

My career path remains driven by a productive experience that entails expertise in information technology with specific versatile interests in academia and industries.

I started working professionally as a Database Administrator for Lara Bookstores in Ilorin where I handled the security and responsiveness of the databases for this organization for the efficaciousness of its activities.

This assignment was useful in providing a strong background as to what is involved in IT infrastructure and data.

Based on this, I moved to assume the post of Digital Manager at Disrupt Design Communication in Lagos Nigeria where I was responsible for a team that developed and implemented powerful online campaigns for various brands and reinforced my skills in digital marketing as well as project management.

After that, I got a job at Cactus Technologies Solutions in Port Harcourt as a Technical Support Staff, where from day to day I provided technical support and solved unexpected problems, as well as evolved clients’ IT infrastructures.

For now, I work as an Assistant Lecturer for the National Open University of Nigeria, under the Department of Information Systems and Technology. In this position, I select, develop, and teach courses, oversee undergraduate research, participate in curriculum review activities, and make changes where necessary to reflect newer developments in information technology.
